The Dreamcatcher - Public Art installation
Year: 2017
Location: Los Angeles, USA
Art: Studio Echelman
Commissioned by: CIM
Simulation Software Engineering: Autodesk
Design Engineer: SOM San Francisco
This sculpture in the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood transforms the space between two buildings into a 3 dimensional space to become part of. By having several suspended shapes coming from a dreamcatcher shape, the studio explored a new practice of tensions and drapes in the nets.
The height of the sculpture is about 30 meter and has a width of 25 meter. It has a large visual presence, which is tempered by its translucency. The colors are gradiently going from pink/magenta to green and blue which gives a chromatic drama during the day and night.
Teammember at Studio Echelman. My role was extended to project management. From concept design to design development in collaboration with the Engineers of SOM and colleagues at the Studio: Daniel Zeese,  Lucca Townsend, Cameron Chateauneuf, Melissa Henry, Mia Cross and others.
