Location: Boston, USA
Commissioned by: The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy
Company: Studio Echelman
Status: Built
Above the Boston Greenway in the space that was previously occupied by the elevated highway. This sculpture spans 200 meter suspended from several building on either side of the park. The form, which is changing with the wind and the light remembers us of the past of the site however in a contra behaviour with a sense of calmness, translucence and slow movement.
The sculpture made out of woven fiber netting, hand-spliced rope and knotting twine, which is interconnected in a mesh of more than a half million nodes. When one moves, the rest will follow. like a drip in the ocean.
The colored patterning is a referral to the lanes of traffic and the buzzle of the city. In daylight the colors will blend with the sky, while making casts shadow-drawing onto the ground below. Where at night the colored projects adapt with the wind and gives another dynamic to the sculpture.
Teammember at Studio Echelman. My role included 3D Modelling and color studies. In colloboration with Daniel Zeese, Lucca Townsend, Cameron Chateauneuf, Melissa Henry and others.
